Salsa

So I figured anything you make in the kitchen is crafting as well, right? Well, let's just say it is! I made this salsa last weekend and it is so yummy! A good friend of ours, Herb, that lives in California gave me the recipe. Here it is:

Herb's Salsa

4 large tomatoes, diced
2 bunches green onions, chopped
1/4 bunch of cilantro, chopped (or more if you love it like I do!)
1 4oz. can green chilies
1 4oz. can jalapenos (only use 1/4 of the can)
1 4oz. can black olives
3-4 TBL Olive Oil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic salt

Mix together and enjoy!

***Sorry about the lame picture! My camera can only do so much!***

Binkie Chain

I made this binkie chain for Tiona's son, Carter. I know it's a little late, but I'm sure they can still use it! I have one for Lilly and it has been the best thing ever! You just clip it onto their clothes, so when it falls out of their mouths, it just hangs there! It doesn't get lost or dirty! I hope it's not too girly for his dad!

New Sunday bag

I have really needed a new Sunday bag to carry my lesson manual (I'm the YW pres.) and other miscellaneous stuff that I have to take to church. I have had THIS TUTORIAL saved for months now - since my friend Brandy made THIS bag for her YW lesson manual - she added 3 inches in length to fit her manual, I did too. I finally bought some material while I was in AK (absolutely NO cute material here on this island) and had to make my bag today. This was the only picture I could get of it actually hanging... it's a horrible picture.

These ones you can see the inside fabric. Next time I would get a little bit heavier outside fabric for it, but this will work and I love it!

Baby legs

I found a tutorial to make Baby legs and wanted to try it out for a baby gift that will be going postal soon. The tutorial was SO EASY! I finished 2 pairs in less than 10 minutes! I guess Baby legs are the new popular thing for babies now (I had never heard about them when Abby was little). I made this one first and Abby was BEGGING to wear them - she has really big legs (compared to a baby) and they were hard to get on - good thing they are for a baby, not her!

Now I just need to find some CUTE socks so I can make a bunch as baby gifts!

Door Remodel

Alright, I know that this isn't exactly a craft, but it is a project right?! My husband and I just bought a home, and we painted the main floor and the upstairs. Well when we moved in there were a few doors that weren't painted, they were the ugly wood brown color. So I decided that I finally had a day off and I was going to use it to redo my doors.
Here are the before pictures.

We don't have a backyard or a garage, but we do have a back deck. I covered all the areas where I was painting with my paint sheets. I took off all the door hinges and actually bought new ones. The old ones were gold and the handles and everything we have is brushed silver. So I bought matching silver hinges. One thing I didn't do that I really wish I would have done and will do in the future is actually take off the handles. I just put blue painting tape around the handles. It worked fine, but I have to touch up around the handles and it doesn't look very professional.

And this is the fianl product!

Crayon Rolls

These are EVERYWHERE! I think they are so cute and such a good idea, so I HAD to make one (or some!) One of my friends has 3 kids and just had another one 2 weeks ago. Another friend and I took her dinner. I wanted to take something for the kids, too! The babies always get all the attention, so I thought it would be nice to give something to the kids.

I did my rolls a little differently. I bought place mats, trimmed them to the size I wanted them, and sewed them together. I tried to make them really fast (I waited until the last minute!) So my lines are a little crooked! Oops! I hope they don't mind! One of the place mats was perfect, the other two were a little thick and a little more difficult to sew! Here are some pics. Don't look too close at my lines!

I gave them to the kids with some coloring books and they LOVED them!

My Daddy and I - Mixed Media album

I got this Fancy Pants album at the little scrapbook/stamp store in Kodiak while I was visiting. I had to try it out! The album has shaped pages in different media - chipboard, felt, transparency sheets - this was fun to work with! I have never worked with felt in a scrapbook page before! I had to use Fabric tac to get my paper to attach to the felt.
The chipboard sheets were painted, then paper on top of the paint.

All of the paper is from Cosmo Cricket - snorkel collection.

Bow Holder

Lilly has so many bows and headbands, I needed a way to keep them organized and displayed so I could see what we have! I made this bow holder out of a scrapbook picture frame I purchased at Michael's. I screwed in those gold hooks to hang her headbands.

I then realized just how many headbands she has and needed more space for them! I bought the bar, hooks, and baskets at IKEA. More headbands and flowers are in the baskets. The hooks hold her bracelets. I have more, I just took them off to show someone and forgot to put them back on!

This is in the inside of her closet door. I like it there!

Hand Sanitizer

I taught First Grade for three years and LOVED the team I worked with. I am now staying at home with my precious baby girl! I was sad to leave the wonderful ladies I worked with. We all went to dinner, so I made them these bottles of hand sanitizer! I know this project has been around for years, but I still think they are adorable! And what teacher can't use a bottle of hand sanitizer?! SORRY! I realize now that the directions on these projects are kind of small. Just click on the image to make them bigger if necessary!

Journal

My friend gave me the idea a while ago to keep a journal for Lilly. I bought a notebook and recovered it. I like the way it turned out. I just need to add pictures to it.
